The secondary protagonist of this story, Shiye is the youngest brother and second in line for the throne. Favored by the people due to his ideals for a more democratic and socially conscious state, he has always been one to live on the wild side of things.

Brave, adventurous, and a little stubborn, Shiye is prone to romanticizing events and subject matters. Family oriented by nature, he cannot understand why his family is so dysfunctional. Along with fixing up his plane, RedWing, he hopes to build a more prosperous future with Sofia one day.

Destinies

After the events of Sunrise, King Shiye does his best to transition to a more democratic system and names his first-born son Itzal.

Alternately, he makes amends with his parents in the afterlife, or else has grown cold and brutal in his power struggle against his brother and divtimately goes to war and blows the top of Castle Monodragon to pieces with dynamite.

Shiye does in fact have a mustache—it's just very faint!
The approximate English pronunciation of Shiye is SH•IY—SH as shē; IY as ē in "eat."
